＜～があります（There)＞の使いかた

There には「そこに」という意味がありますが、「～があります」という使い方があります。
この文型ではbe動詞の次にくる言葉が主語になります。その単語によって、be動詞のかたちが決まります。

there を「そこに」とは訳しません。

There is + ～（単数形）

There is a cat on the table.
テーブルの上にネコがいます｡

There are + ～（複数形）

There are many parks in the park.
市にはたくさんの公園があります。

否定文と疑問文

否定文はbi動詞の次にnotを置きます。
There is not a boy near the door.
疑問文はbe動詞を文頭に置きます。
Is there a cat on the table?
